Botanical Name: Glandularia maritima
Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A low-growing perennial that forms clumps up to 1-2 feet tall and wide. Thrives in full sun and sandy, well-drained soils. Tolerates drought and salty conditions.
How you can help by planting this: Nectar source for a variety of butterflies and moths. Pollinated by Miner Bees and Long-tongued Bees, such as Bumblebees and Orchid Bees. A great stabilizer for sandy soils in coastal environments.
Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Bright purple flowers bloom year-round, with occasional small seed capsules.
Pairs well with: Railroad Vine, Sea Purslane, Beach Creeper and Bay Cedar for vibrant coastal plantings.
