Botanical Name: Stachytarpheta jamaicensis

Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A low-growing perennial groundcover or small shrub that reaches 1-3 feet tall. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and tolerates sandy, well-drained soils.

How you can help by planting this: Attracts butterflies, Julia, Gulf Fritillary, and Long-tailed Skippers, as well as provides nectar for pollinators year-round. Larval host plant for Tropical Buckeye, although not common, the plant still serves as an excellent pollinator attracter

Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Vibrant blue-purple flowers bloom throughout the year, forming on long, slender spikes. Minimal fruit production.

Pairs well with: Beach Creeper, Quailberry, Sunshine Mimosa, Keys Ageratum, Railroad Vine and other ground covers.
