Botanical Name: Myrica cerifera
Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A small to medium-sized evergreen shrub or tree growing 6-15 feet tall. Prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates salt and drought conditions once established.
How you can help by planting this: Provides shelter for birds and mammals, while its aromatic leaves repel insects. Its berries provide food for birds in the winter months.
Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Small, yellowish-green flowers bloom in spring, followed by blue-grey waxy berries in late summer to fall.
