Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A clump-forming perennial (long-loving) that grows 6-20 inches tall. Prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soils.
How you can help by planting this: Provides nectar for native pollinators and adds beauty to wildflower gardens. Beneficial sweat bees, bumble bees, bee flies, and syrphid flies are attracted to its nectar and pollen.
Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Star-shaped blue-violet flowers with yellow centers bloom in spring and summer, followed by small seed capsules.
