Botanical Name: Pseudophoenix sargentii
Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A slow-growing, salt-tolerant palm that reaches 10-25 feet tall. Thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers sandy, well-drained soils. Drought-tolerant once established.
How you can help by planting this: Helps restore native coastal ecosystems and provides food for birds with its fruit. This palm was almost lost die to over collection of wild populations. Help spread this palm so that it calls Miami home for many generations to come
Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Creamy white flowers bloom in summer, followed by bright red berries in late fall and winter.
Pairs well with: Bay Cedar, Sea Grape, and Keys Thatch Palm for a resilient coastal landscape.
