Botanical Name: Cordia sebestena
Description (growth habits, light requirements & care): A small to medium-sized tree growing 10-25 feet tall. Prefers full sun and well-drained, sandy soils. It’s drought-tolerant once established.
How you can help by planting this: Attracts pollinators, especially hummingbirds, with its vibrant flowers and supports local wildlife with its fruit. Nectar plant for Large Orange Sulphur, Schaus’ Swallowtail and other butterflies.
Flower and Fruit (color, characteristics, season): Showy orange, funnel-shaped flowers bloom year-round, followed by round, yellow fruits.
Pairs well with: Florida Thatch Palm, Sea Grape, and Wild Sage for a low-maintenance, coastal garden.
